The opiate epidemic sweeping Erie County is affecting more than just addicts – their families are suffering, battling loss and a feeling of helplessness.
Tired of putting up with the lies, Kathy Solecki ordered her daughter out of their home last fall. With no place to go, the young woman was living in her car. By November, she was arrested for shoplifting.
“I went to court and talked with the public defender and said she needed help. She was admitted to rehab and after rehab she went to Paradise House in Buffalo,” Solecki said. “She has been clean 10 months."
